Questions, answered

What people ask before hiring me: how long things take, what drives the cost, which platform makes sense, and what it is like working with one person who designs, builds and runs the delivery.

Working with me

The questions people ask before they get in touch, answered plainly.

Are you a freelancer or an agency?

Neither, exactly. I run Creatif Work, a Singapore design studio I founded in 2023. It has delivered 100+ projects for 70+ clients across 15+ industries. Depending on the project I deliver solo or lead a team of up to 5, so you get studio-level range without agency overhead or account managers between you and the person doing the work.

Do you design and develop, or only one of them?

Both, on the same project. You get a website designer and a website developer in one person. That matters because the usual failure is a flat mockup handed from a designer to a developer, where the idea leaks out in the gap. What you approve is what gets built.

Can I hire a designer who can actually code?

Yes, that is exactly what I am. I have shipped production code and I design, build, and run my own SaaS products, including a live job-search product called Magpie. It means feasibility conversations stay short and honest, estimates hold, and I will tell you early when something is harder than it looks rather than discovering it mid-build.

Do you work with clients outside Singapore?

Yes. I am based in Singapore and work with clients internationally, including across the EU. Most projects run remotely end to end. Clients have specifically noted quick replies despite a 7-hour time difference, so timezone gaps are a known and managed part of how I work.

Do you work alongside an in-house team?

Yes. I can work as the designer and developer, as a creative director reviewing and directing your team's output, or as the project manager running delivery. I have led teams of up to 5 across design, web and content.

What happens after the project launches?

You get a CMS you can actually edit and a walkthrough of how to run it. I do not disappear at handover: clients regularly note that I still answer questions and follow up months after a project was delivered.

Websites

How long does it take to build a website?

You will see a first draft of the site within 7 to 14 days, depending on complexity. The full timeline after that depends on how many rounds of feedback you need and how quickly content comes back to me. A focused marketing site moves faster than an e-commerce build with custom functionality.

What does a website cost?

It depends on scope rather than a fixed price list. The things that actually move the number are: how many unique page templates are needed, whether it needs e-commerce or custom functionality like booking or payments, how much of the brand and content has to be created rather than supplied, and how many integrations are involved. Tell me what you are trying to do and I will scope it honestly, including telling you when you do not need the bigger version.

Should I use WordPress, Webflow, Wix or a custom build?

It depends on who maintains the site after launch. WordPress and WooCommerce suit content-heavy sites and e-commerce where you want a large plugin ecosystem. Webflow and Wix suit smaller marketing sites where you want to edit things yourself without a developer. A custom build in Next.js or React makes sense when you need performance, unusual interactions or product-like functionality that a page builder fights against. I recommend based on your situation, not on what I prefer to work in.

Do you build e-commerce stores and booking systems?

Yes. I have built e-commerce stores and at least seven different booking systems, across limousine services, cleaning, a clinic, a party bus, a coworking space and a trade association. I will also tell you when a booking system is the wrong solution for your business, which happens more often than you would expect.

Are your websites accessible?

Yes. I build to the latest WCAG standards: semantic, keyboard-first HTML, screen-reader support, sensible colour contrast and reduced-motion handling. Accessibility is part of the build rather than an audit bolted on at the end. This site is the proof: the animated name on the homepage is live WebGL, and it still works with a keyboard, a screen reader and reduced motion switched on.

Can you redesign or take over an existing website?

Yes, and a large share of my work is exactly that. A redesign starts with working out what is actually wrong with the current site rather than assuming it all needs replacing. That includes migrating platforms and untangling sites originally built by someone else.

Will my website be fast and good for SEO?

Yes. Sites are engineered to load fast and built with semantic HTML, proper heading structure, descriptive alt text, structured data and clean metadata. Performance and technical SEO are part of the build, not an upsell afterwards.

Branding and design

What is included in a branding project?

Typically brand strategy and positioning, logo and identity design, a typography and colour system, art direction, and guidelines documenting how it all behaves. Collateral, print and the website itself can be part of the same project.

What is the difference between a logo, an identity and a brand?

The logo is one mark. The identity is the whole visual system: type, colour, imagery, layout and how they behave together. The brand is what people actually think of you, which the identity supports but cannot replace on its own. I design the system, not just the mark.

Should I do the branding and the website together?

Usually yes, and it produces a better result. Plenty of brand books look immaculate as a PDF and fall apart the moment someone builds the site. When the same person designs the identity and then builds the website, the system gets stress-tested against real screens and real content while there is still time to fix it.

Can you rebrand a business that already exists?

Yes. A rebrand means working out what is worth keeping, what is holding you back, and what recognition you would be throwing away, before redrawing anything. I have rebranded businesses across 15+ industries.

Do you design mobile apps and digital products?

Yes. UX flows, wireframes, UI design and design systems for web and mobile. I have designed, built and shipped three of my own products end to end, which is why I design for production reality rather than for a portfolio shot.

Looking for something specific?

Still have a question?

Ask me directly. I will give you a straight answer, including when the honest answer is that you do not need what you were about to buy.
